Our Work
The Eastern region consists of our Transitional Jobs (TJ) and the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) teams as well as our Corporate Headquarters.
In PY19, our region's branches explored the new opportunities of cross-collaboration connecting jobseeker customers to additional support and resources, and the business community to a wider talent pool to fill their recruitment and training needs.

Victoria had recently been released from incarceration and was wanting to get started in construction as a career. Even though she had an interest skilled trades, she did not possess the work experience or skills needed to be qualified for these positions.
At the time, Victoria was living in transitional housing with limited resources, but she was able to get a referral to the Apprenticeship & Skilled Trades Center by the Department of Corrections. When Victoria came into the WorkSource Center, she met with Career Path Services employee Dani. Dani was able to share with her the Head Start to Construction Trades program.
Together they worked to identify and address challenges that might prevent Victoria from fully participating in classes. Dani walked her through accessing and submitting the application since classes were virtual; Dani also helped Victoria secure a Chrome Book and MiFi to be able to attend her classes. Victoria was able to work with the team at WorkSource to ensure she would be prepared to start work with work boots, clothing, and a bus pass.
Victoria has started her classes and is looking forward to her graduation, she has a construction position lined up for when she completes the program. Victoria is so glad that she was able to participate in the program and get started on the path to her new career.
