Annual Report | Program Year 2019
Our Year In Review

In many ways, an oceanic voyage is a great metaphor for program year 2019 (PY19) - calm at the start with excitement for what lays ahead, a captain with her compass of experienced leaders guiding our journey to something new, converge with the uncontrollable elements of the sea that challenge and inspire us to grow and move away from the shore.  As we set out into the open sea, our leaders respected the unpredictable nature of the ocean and prepared us to handle anything and everything unfamiliar laying ahead.

With a performance plan in place and strong partnerships we optimistically set sail, recruiting job seekers, engaging employers, piloting poverty reduction strategies, preparing and placing job seekers for careers with family-supporting wages, improving youth services, expanding partnerships, and delving further into human services. By all signs, it was looking to be smooth sailing…

Except… no one could have predicted a devastating storm on the horizon; a global force that commanded us to adjust our sails and jibe in a new direction. With all hands on deck, the Career Path Services team confronted the most destructive elements of the storm as one crew, guided by our core values and purpose, and navigated our way through!

Now as we cut through choppy waters while looking ahead to the future, the idea of new will look and sound a bit different than before. It somehow feels like the only constant this last year has been change, but let's not lose sight of how our experience - head, heart, and hands allowed us to cross this stormy sea while staying on course toward our collective mission and purpose.

Messages of Hope
This has been a year of epic tides and big breaking waves! However, I am extremely proud of how through it all, our team has rolled with the changes to adapt and offer virtual services to meet the critical needs of jobseekers and businesses in our community.  With lingering uncertainty ahead and anticipating growing demand for our services, I am more confident than ever that this team will continue to evolve as needed and rise to meet the challenges that come.

— Andy Dwonch, COO
This last year has been a challenge for the entire world and most specifically for the communities and people of the State of Washington. But, thanks to the trust of our partner funding organizations and our amazing team of dedicated professionals, we are currently helping more people than ever before, and I am excited to see the part we are playing unfold into a dramatic recovery for Washington and beyond.
